Book Description:

Secrets…

They weigh you down. I’ve kept a secret all my life. It’s my mother’s secret, too. I inherited it from her along with a unique ability that only we possess. She’s gone now, another victim of addiction. If her death isn’t enough to bring me to my knees, her betrayal flays me to the bone. Because the secret my mother and I have been keeping is just one of many she’d kept. She never told me I have an older brother. And now he’s here, eager to be my guardian.

There is no one else. So I move across the country to live with this stranger, my brother. But experience has taught me that most situations are temporary and forming attachments only leads to hurt in the end. That’s why I’m determined to keep to myself in this new place, struggling to seem aloof while I’m quietly breaking apart.

Then I meet Lucas…

His magnetism is hard to resist, and most girls at school aren’t resisting. I don’t fall so easily though, especially not for guys who use their good looks as a weapon. From the start, our interactions are tense and volatile. I know it’s because I’m denying the unwelcome desire that grips me when he’s near. I think he feels it, too. He looks at me with an intensity that threatens to unhinge my resolve. Soon he’s trying to break through the walls that past hurts have built.

But I’m not what I appear to be, and it wouldn’t be fair to get involved with him. At least that’s what I tell myself. Until a terrible act of violence reveals that Lucas has a secret, too. It’s a secret that links us together and ties us to an evil history I never could have imagined.

Review

I received the book for a honest review! Thanks!:)

I wanted to read this book because it sounded different, like she had something special in it, something you can’t see first, but you can feel it. And I really can say now that I read that, that „thing” that I felt was more than I expected. Because this book is not just a nice novel with a girl moving with his brother and going to a new school, the substratum is deeper.

I won’t talk about the action and sure not about the secret that Raielle has, because I spoil everything and that is the last thing I want to do in this review. But I can assure you that the whole story is like a spider web, is something deep and hurtful, and everyone has his piece of fault. And by the time you read you found out more and more, and you keep asking yourself is it more? Because is addicting and you don’t want to stop. And the feelings are so strong and the characters so full of emotions. I liked it so much that this is not another novel with nice characters and usual story, plus a happy end. And yes, is not a novel, I think is a series, or just another one, a sequel.

Raielle is a strong girl, with a big soul and a good speech too, I like that she doesn’t try to be nice with people she dislikes. She has a bad life with a mom that she didn’t care too much and what appears just indiference is more than that. If you read the book you will find out that and more, what is the secret. Lucas is a nice guy too that has his problems and I liked how they got togehter and their relathionship moved. And you thought that they were so linked? Me no. But I liked that their relathionship is full of feelings and not just atraction, and they go through so much things.

And the ending… the ending was unexpected and now I don;t know what to think. What would happen next? So, if you like this kind of books, that are better than it’s sound I recomended it to you, and I’m sure you would like it.

5/5
