REVIEW - Mad About the Hatter by Dakota Chase

Synopsis:

This isn’t his sister’s Wonderland….

Henry never believed his older sister, Alice’s, fantastic tales about the world down the rabbit hole. When he’s whisked away to the bizarre land, his best chance for escape is to ally himself with the person called the Mad Hatter. Hatter—an odd but strangely attractive fellow—just wants to avoid execution. If that means delivering “Boy Alice” to the Queen of Hearts at her Red Castle, Hatter will do what he has to do to stay alive. It doesn’t matter if Henry and Hatter find each other intolerable. They’re stuck with each other.

Along their journey, Henry and Hatter must confront what they’ve always accepted as truth. As dislike grows into tolerance and something like friendship, the young men see the chance for a closer relationship. But Wonderland is a dangerous place, and first they have to get away with their lives.

REVIEW:

Can we first admire and drool over this beautiful and colorful cover? Ok, thank you! Now, let's get into the review.

I have to admit that the cover caught my eyes but after I read the synopsis I knew that I had to read it, this book had to be mine. Because I love Alice in Wonderland retellings and I love my boys, if I can say it like that. I'm a huge fan of gay romance and it's been years since I devoured manga and animes on this subjects and then books, but let's stay to the review. So, I had to read it!

And I read it. And even if at first I thought that it's just cute and nothing special, then the plot became interesting and the characters got fleshed out even more, the world kept surprising me more and more. And the plot twists, guys! Which I didn't see coming. This book was like a huge and delicious delicious chocolate dessert. From which I want more but now I finished it...

So, as always, I won't tell you about the plot or the ending, but as I was telling you this is really really good and I think is one of my favourite Alice retellings, in point of world builduing, characters and plot. Because with each chapter you more and more involved and it's like you're there, in the story with the characters. And you can feel, smeel, see and hear everything. And it's such an amazing feeling! Also, Henry and Hatter are well done characters and they are so cute and funny and I smile like a crazy person just thinking about them. They are very charming and beautiful inside and outside guys! And they are SO cute together! I can't even.

I'm such in love with this book now and I want to read it again, even if I finished it five minutes ago. It was so interesting and gripping and such a fresh and intriguing, beautiful and well thought story, with such great and vivid characters, and the writing style is almost magical, because you really feel transported to Wonderland as you read. I really don't know what to say to convince you to pick this up and read it!

So, if you like Alice in Wonderland retellings or just awesome and gripping stories, with emotions and action and suspense, and beautiful description and a satisfying ending then read it! Also, if you like stories with cute guys read it! I would recommend this to anyone, doesn't matter what genre you read or if you like glbt or not. Because it doesn't matter. Also, if this help more, the relationship between the two reminded me a little of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. So if you love that as much as me then pick this up! Now!

You won't regret reading this!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the review copy and huge apologies for being late!

REVIEW - Alice by Christina Henry

Synopsis:

In a warren of crumbling buildings and desperate people called the Old City, there stands a hospital with cinderblock walls which echo the screams of the poor souls inside.

In the hospital, there is a woman. Her hair, once blond, hangs in tangles down her back. She doesn’t remember why she’s in such a terrible place. Just a tea party long ago, and long ears, and blood…

Then, one night, a fire at the hospital gives the woman a chance to escape, tumbling out of the hole that imprisoned her, leaving her free to uncover the truth about what happened to her all those years ago.

Only something else has escaped with her. Something dark. Something powerful.

And to find the truth, she will have to track this beast to the very heart of the Old City, where the rabbit waits for his Alice.

REVIEW:

Such a refreshing and awesome read!

After I've read some bad book these days, this one was a huge mouth of fresh air and I had so much fun reading it, from the beginning 'till the end. It's the first retelling of 'Alice' that I've read but it was a good one and I really enjoyed the story.

To be honest, I liked it more than I was expecting, because honestly I didn't know what to expect. The cover looked simple but intriguing and the synopsis sounded amazing. But I didn't want to be disappointed so I hoped nothing. And I'm glad to tell that I really enjoyed it, it was good and it had no part when I was bored or I wasn't curious to know what is going to happen.

The writing style is very good, simplistic but it gripps you from the first page, the characters are so well sketched and each voice in special, you can't mix them up and I liked the fact that even if the villains or the secondary characters appear so little, they are described enough, you find out their story and you can see them very well. I felt that each character had its space and role, and no one was there just to take space. And that happens a lot and in a lot of novels.

Also, I liked the plot, how things went, how the characters dealt with the situations and how we find out what happened before. The present and the past interwine nicely and nothing seemed forced or out of place. And the ending was just the last piece from the puzzle and it sat perfectly. I don't think that this novel has something wrong and I wouldn't change anything.

Alice and Hatcher are so cool, I mean they are so real and crazy and amazing and I want to meet them. Maybe we could talk and I think it would be so amazing to stay with them or just listen. Or can you imagine how it is to walk with them? Every minute something could happen. Awesome. But I won't talk much, because I will spoil something for you and I don't want to.

Just pick this book up and read, ok? It's so crazyawesomegooodamazingrefreshing and you'll want more. I want more. There's a sequel or something? Please! Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend this one. It's so crazy as funny and as funny as crazy! Awesome book with crazy people just for crazy people! : ))

Huge thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this one!

REVIEW - Mechanica by Betsy Cornwell

Synopsis:

Nicolette’s awful stepsisters call her “Mechanica” to demean her, but the nickname fits: she learned to be an inventor at her mother’s knee. Her mom is gone now, though, and the Steps have turned her into a servant in her own home.

But on her sixteenth birthday, Nicolette discovers a secret workshop in the cellar and begins to dare to imagine a new life for herself. Could the mysterious books and tools hidden there—and the mechanical menagerie, led by a tiny metal horse named Jules—be the key to escaping her dreary existence? With a technological exposition and royal ball on the horizon, the timing might just be perfect for Nicolette to earn her freedom at last.

Gorgeous prose and themes of social justice and family shine in this richly imagined Cinderella retelling about an indomitable inventor who finds her prince . . . but realizes she doesn't want a fairy tale happy ending after all.

REVIEW:

I'm not a fan of retellings and I tried to read this one for the story itself and because the cover and the idea sounded and looked pretty good.

But it wasn't as good or as engaging as I was expecting. In my opinion the prose isn't gorgeous and I felt so out of the story throughout the novel. I really hate when I can't sympathize with the characters and when I can't feel the stort. It was like watching tv or someone was reading to me. Something was off. And because of this aspect I didn't fell in love with the book, I wasn't as much interested in the plot, the ending didn't blew me away and the characters were ok.

This is not a bad story but the writing style was just ok for me. It didn't have that something to grip me, to make me curious, it didn't make the actions interesting and alive, I didn't see the backgrounds and all the machines, everything lookes grey and fragmented. The characters were just there and I couldn't feel their emotions or feelings if they existed. I couldn't feel the friendship or the love, the fear, the hope, anything. They existed in words and on the page, but I as a reader I felt nothing!

I liked the book for the idea and for the machines, but for everything - characters, plot, writing style, relationships, pace, ending - I disliked it. I can't like a book that makes me see nothing and I force myself to see, I force myself to be engaged and interested in the story and the characters. I can;t like a book if I feel nothing, I just read the words and my mind is blank.

And because I felt and I saw nothing, just forcing myself to enjoy this and to feel at least a thing, and because the story was meh, the characters were uni - dimensional and the writing style was plain, ok, average, bleh, this was just ok. Not good but not bad. It lacked something to grip you, to make you curious, it was like a beautiful car that is not working. It didn't click for me.

You can try this if you want, because it reads very fast, it's easy and you finish it right away. And maybe it will work for you.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this one!

REVIEW - Easy Silence by Beth Rinyu

Synopsis:

They say you never forget your first love. No matter how many more come along or how much time goes by, there will always be that one person who will be forever embedded deep inside your heart and soul. For me, that was Jaxson Callahan.

We were complete opposites. I was a senator’s daughter. My parents were always too busy keeping up appearances on the political scene to show me love, so instead they bought my affection. He was the son of a woman who allowed men to use and abuse her as well as him, just for her next fix. We became each other’s solace during that summer we met, creating a lifetime of memories in three short months. I provided him with a sense of hope that there was more than just the harsh reality of the life he had grown accustomed to, and he showed me a genuine love that I had been yearning for my entire life. We vowed to be together forever. I loved him and he loved me…. and nothing would keep us apart.

Nothing except the secrets that were hiding in that small seaside town. Secrets that altered our destiny. We were never given any warning as we watched our future shake, crumble and disappear altogether, leaving us with nothing but memories of a bittersweet past.

Life can be beautiful. Life can be kind. And life can be heartless… because nothing about our situation was fair.

REVIEW:

This book was very cute, heart wrenching and I liked it more than I was expecting!

I read it really fast and I didn't even realize how fast this story gripped me and how easy I got attached to the characters. I enjoyed very much the writing style, which was beautiful, simplistic and full of emotions. Plus, it was very vivid and descriptive and I could see, feel and smell everything. Which is very important for me. And as I said, I got attached to the characters so fast, like I knew them for a long time or they were my friends and I was visiting them for summer.

Easy Silence is a very special book and it's like a bouquet of emotions: sadness, happyness, regret, hope, rage, anger, fury, love, hate etc. There are so many feelings in this novel and they are so powerful, because it's so well done. You have a nice story, good shaped characters, beautiful places, a relationship which is very different from what you see in New Adult. It wasn't cliche, nothing was rushed or forced. It seemed real and even if some will think that it's too sad or it wasn't right how it ended, I think that's the purpose. In life you can't say it's not right or I want another ending, because you can't.

I don't know what to say more about this book but for me was a powerful read and besides enjoying the writing style and the story, I liked the fact that it had a different ending and that the things weren't what I or other people were expecting. For me was a huge twist and I don't know if it was good or bad but I think it suited the story and the characters.

I recommend this one if you want something fast and easy, but it's not unicorns and rainbows. It's more like serious stuff and sad thinks and people that are so bad and stupid just because they have a huge ego and they think that appearances are more important. I think it deserves to be read by more people and to be loved. Tell Jaxon and Sam that I say 'hi' : )

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for this one!

REVIEW - Silently Still by Julieanne Lynch

Synopsis:

Everyone is entitled to making their own choices in life, but a decision can make or break you. For Jacinta Kelly, hers came in the form of running away from everything that reminded her of her roots.

Living in rural Ireland was hard enough, but living with her mother’s mental illness and her obsession with her garden took its toll.

One winter, the world as she knows it changes. Jacinta becomes aware of her own mortality, and how fragile her existence truly is.

Alone and frightened; to live or die, the choice is hers.

REVIEW:

This was an easy and very fast read but don't get me wrong, this book isn't about happyiness and flowers and unicorns. It's just the writing style that is beautiful and calm and charming, and it gripps you from the first page; and that writing style makes the book a little less sad and grim.

I don't wanna spoil it for you, so I won't talk about the plot or what is going on. I will just say that I enjoyed this, the writing style was so nice and I felt like I was wrapped in a warm and nice smelling blanket. Somehow the writing style brings some light in the darkness of the story, because it's sad and it's about loss and a ton of tears and how people deal with death, with crazyness and the consequences of our actions and the consequences effect of others actions on us. Because maybe we do nothing but whether someone does or suffer then we'll feel it too. And sometimes that is harsher and uglier.

This book is about emotions, beautiful and ugly ones, and real friendship, about love, hate, tears and smiles, about kisses and hugs and hurting yourself and hurting others. It's about others hurting you, hurting them. It's a rollercoaster of feelings and the fact that I got so attached to the characters it left me in the end feeling very tired. But not tired because I fell asleep or something, but because I felt so many things.

This novel makes you think about the life of the characters and our lives. Because everything that happened in here could happen in real life. In a moment you can feel happy and then sad or someone can feel sane and then go crazy. Someone can smile now and be alive and the next second or day or week or year can be dead. I think this makes you think about life and about living. Because we don't apreciate enough what we have, we don't apreciate the fact that we wake up every day, that we have what we have physically, mentaly, financially etc and we don't apreciate the people that we have. As they are.

I recommend this one!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read this one!

REVIEW - Evil Games (D.I. Kim Stone #2) by Angela Marsons

Synopsis:

The greater the Evil, the more deadly the game…

Up against a sociopath who seems to know her every weakness, for Detective Stone, each move she makes could be deadly. As the body count starts to mount, Kim will have to dig deeper than ever before to stop the killing. And this time - it’s personal.

REVIEW:

After I read the first one in this series I was very angry, because I completeley disliked it and for me was a total waste of time. But I'm glad I read this one, because compared to the first it was better.

If you're like me and you were bored, you rolled your eyes while reading the first one, you had a hard time trying to finish that thing and put pieces together, then you'll be a bit surprised when you'll read and enjoy this. Because I did. And to be honest I had the impression that was written by another author: the writing style was more cursive, the characters more fleshed out, the plot was stronger, more complex and action and suspense had a bigger role.

I won't talk about the plot and what happens but this book really played with my mind a little, especially that character, the sociopath. It was interesting to see how one acts and thinks, but it was also scary because due to a freak's influence like that people can start act very strange or deadly. So it was intriguing but if I had the opportunity I would've killed that think with my bare hands.

I think this book is good if you want something psichological, more like a mind game and not something with fights, weapons, investigations and action. Yeah, it has actions, suspense, suspects and all that good stuff but it's more centred around people, the human brain, how it can be influenced and changed, how easily sensible people can be damaged or drastically influenced. So I don't know if you would like this kind of read but for me was a good, easy, short and interesting one. Kind of a summer-with-a-bit-of-strange-stuff-in-it-summer-read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this one!

REVIEW - Follow You Home by Mark Edwards

Synopsis:

Back in London, Daniel and Laura vow never to talk about what they saw that night. But as they try to fit back into their old lives, it becomes clear that their nightmare is just beginning…

REVIEW:

Seeing the cover, which I really like, and reading the synopsis I was expecting such a creepy, creepy read. Did I receive it? No!

This novel was supposed to be a very bad, scary, goosebumpy and thriller read but for me was like a walk in the park. Yeah, I was curious to know what happened and all the stuff but I felt nothing while reading it; or maybe just boredom and my eyes rolling so bad that I could feel them rolling in my head.

I read so many scary, creepy, full of action, suspense and thriller novels so I really know what I like and I know how this stuff looks. This was supposed to be like but it wasn't. I didn't saw the creepy stuff and all the creppy things that were supposed to scare me they didn't.

The action of this novel happens half in Romania and half in London. I haven't been to London but I know Romania too well so the descriptions of this country were very generic and I don't know if the author has a bipolar opinion about the Romanians or is just the characters opinion. Like in some parts they say that Romania is a beautiful country and that the people and nice and good, but in others they accuse the Romanians to be thieves, bad people, murderers etc. Maybe the author wanted to use something exotic from Europe and decided to choose Romania. But I didn't like that he decided to portray the Romanians like that. Yeah, I get it, it's for the story but I clearly know that more than half on the planet thinks that Romanians are just like that.

Coming back to the story. It bore me to death. No mystery, no tension, it had action but I felt nothing. I didn't like the writing style, the characters, the descriptions. Everything seemed plain, without substance. And it amazes me how this novel has so, but SO many ratings of 4 and 5 stars. I mean, am I the only one that found this boring and poorly written?

I don't say that the writing is bad but for a mystery, horror, dark thriller it is. Because if this had the role to scare me, to make me curious, to make my blood run fasters than a racket and make my heart go in my pants and it didn't, then it's not good. And ok, I get it, it was thriller and mystery but dark and horror? Really? Whether I get scared harder and trust me I get scared very fast or all those people that read this haven't ever read horror or dark fiction. I don't want to talk bad about anyone but it really really surprise me that this is considered a chilling story.

In conclusion you can try this out maybe you'll get scared or find it intriguing. And please, while and after reading this, don't consider Romanians being like those described in the book. Because Romanians are good and bad as Americans, British people and everyone on the planet. And I'm really really tired of those descriptions like Romanians are just bad people, thieves bla bla, Romania is a bad, ugly, hunted country bla bla. Just google some stuff and then we'll talk.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this one! Sadly it left me with a bitter taste.

REVIEW - Secrets Room by Kim Faulks

Synopsis:

What would you do if you woke in a room filled with strangers, with no memory of how you got there, and no way out?

Morgan Drimmel wakes to find herself in the midst of that nightmare. The gouged, blood-splattered walls scream of terror and torture, and the unrelenting light that shines between the cracks in the walls fills her with dread. When the others in the room wake, they form alliances, and Morgan finds herself drawn to rogue biker Slade Rivers. But dependence, for her, has always come with a deadly price.

Those inside the room have secrets too; dark secrets they will go to any length to keep from getting out. When evil rears its ugly head, Morgan will not only have to fight to survive—she will also have to trust.

REVIEW:

This book was so messed up and creepy, but I liked it!

What I think you have to know when you start reading this is that you need patience; because you don't find out everything immediately. You have to read, to know better the character, to find out how they are related, why they are there, what is that place etc. Also, in some moments the tension is going to be so high and everything becomes so real... be careful to not arrive there too!

I won't talk about what's going on, because I'll ruin the plot for you but I have to say that this book really plays with your mind and you can't read it if you want something fast and easy. Yeah, it's fast, but if you don't notice the details and keep in mind everything does and says then you'll miss the clues. You really need to read this carefully, because it's like a puzzle and if you don't get all the pieces how are you going to assemble it at the end?

Also, about the characters I won't talk too much, because I can't without giving spoilers. But everyone is well sketched and if you find someone normal there, then please show him to me. Thanks!

Honestly, so I can wrap this us, I enjoyed this book. It was creepy, interesting, it played with my head and I liked that I couldn't figure it out from the beginning. And even if I finished it now, I still need some time so all the pieces will fall into place. I don't think this is a summer and easy - breezy read, and you won't forget it too fast! So, if you want something like this, then read it.

REVIEW - Bad Reputation (Bad Reputation #1) by K.B. Nelson

Synopsis:

She knows better. She just doesn’t care.

Apple Malloy is a woman scorned. Scorned by a society that has shamed her, and scorned by the men who have claimed her. On the verge of college graduation, Apple finds herself entangled in one last game of manipulation, deceit and sexual corruption with her former lover, and constant enabler, Brick Valmont.

Apple sets her sights on Jensen Moon—the enigmatic professor who had failed her the semester prior—and vows revenge. She’ll make him fall in love with her, and then break his heart, leaving his reputation destroyed in the process.

Brick makes her a wager she can’t refuse.

If Apple can seduce Jensen before Brick can sleep with Tyra Young, the beautiful, innocent daughter of a sitting U.S. Senator, then she will emerge victorious. If she wins, she gets the satisfaction that she has beaten him at his own game. If she loses, she must sleep with Brick one last time before heading separate ways.

Apple is a pro at this. She knows how to maneuver men and wrap them around her finger. She knows how to get what she wants, but Jensen tosses an unexpected grenade into her path to victory. Soon, she realizes it is she that might face the worst fate of all.

She falls in love.

Jensen has a power over Apple and it terrifies her. He can make her feel things. He can make her heart race. He might be the only one capable of saving her soul before it’s too late. But one thing is certain—nobody escapes unscathed in this titillating story of manipulation where nothing is as it appears.

Bad Reputation is the first book in the Bad Reputation series, and is loosely based on the 1782 classic novel Dangerous Liaisons.

REVIEW:

To be honest I wasn't expecting to like this or to blow me away, but I really liked it.

The writing style is really addictive and you can't control how fast you read, because you want to know more and more and more. Plus the dynamic of this novel is to be fast and even if this is short you get so much. I wasn't expecting it to be so action packed and to have so many plot twists. But it had and I liked it.

I liked Apple as a character and whether at the beginning you think that her character it's too much, you'll get accustomed to it and you'll start to enjoy her way of thinking, how she does things and also how she plays with men. Because she's very strong, competitive, ambitious and she will do anything and everything to get what she wants. Whether she destroys *or change* herself in the process. Also, the guys are very hot and interesting but I won't talk about them. I'll let you discover them! :>

I think this is an awesome read whether you want something short, fast, light but hot or you want somwething twisted, complicated, action packed and hot. Because this book is both and don't let the page number fool you, because this novel has more action than a ton of bigger books. And even if this was my first read from this author for sure I'll read more, because I liked her writing style, how she wrote this idea and I liked how she created and shaped the characters. They were real, vivid and very complex.

Enjoy your read!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for lending me this one!

REVIEW - Believe Like a Child by Paige Dearth

Synopsis:

Alessa is just seven years old when her uncle rapes her for the first time. As the years pass, his sexual appetite becomes more voracious and his perversion more twisted, until the abuse has become almost a daily ritual, with the unspoken involvement of the girl’s mother.

At the age of sixteen, after the death of her only friend, Alessa finds herself at the mercy of her real-life monster, with no relief in sight. She flees her home to escape this hell, only to find herself descending into a more dangerous one. Alone and helpless in the streets of North Philadelphia, she encounters more human predators who want to take over her life and devour her. About to hit rock bottom, Alessa manages to break away from her new tormentors and finds refuge in a shelter for homeless and abused women.

Wherever she goes, however, trouble keeps seeking her out, until she meets three people who change the course of her life forever. Though Alessa’s bittersweet journey is perpetually fraught with challenges, she does, nevertheless, manage to find fleeting moments of joy along the way. But as she begins to settle down, a ghost from the past comes to haunt her again, threatening to destroy the very foundation of her small world and plunging her back into an abyss of despair, until she makes her final bid for escape.

REVIEW:

First I have to say that, in my opinion, the synopsis is giving too much away and if you read it, then you almost know half of the story. So, maybe it's a good idea to just read the book or read the synopsis too. At least, you'll know what kind of read to expect.

To be honest I have very mixed feelings about this book and as the novel went along my interest kind of started to die. Because at some parts it seemed dragged off and in others a dozen of things happened. Then it's the ending too, which in my opinion it's not the best one.

I won't talk about the plot, because as I said the description is already giving away enough, but I can say that I liked this one. The idea is interesting and eye - opening, because this kind of stuff happens everywhere and at any time to children, women and girls. And if you read the novel then you'll see that we follow Alessa from her childhood untill she's around twenty something years old. But I didn't like the writing style and I felt nothing for the characters.

Yeah, I was very sad reading about Alessa's life and all the things that she had been through, but I couldn't feel something, anything, for her as a character. I wanted more and I didn't receive.

I think this book is worth reading because of the subject, because everything is sincerly told and nothing is hidden, because it presents a huge part of reality that maybe we don't see and understand or maybe we don't want to acknowledge it. Also, reading this book I realised how many things we have as humans and how happy and safe and thankful we should be, because we are not in danger or because we don't have to live Alessa's life or a life like that. Because it's not beaufitul at all and I don't think that someone deserves it.

I recommend this book if you want something real, ugly, full of truth, that will make you think and that will make you see how ugly and bad life can be to some people, but more than that you will see how bad people, espeacilly the closest ones, are to other people. DON'T read this if you want something sad or something emotional; yeah, it's emotional and sad but it's also very graphic, sexual and full of ugly stuff.

REVIEW - A Magic Dark and Bright (The Asylum Saga #1) by Jenny Adams Perinovic

Synopsis:

She meant to help a ghost... not unleash a curse.

As Charlie and Amelia uncover the dark history of Asylum, they realize they may have unleashed an unspeakable evil. One they have to stop before everything they love is destroyed.

REVIEW:

Can we admire the cover for a second? Ok, thank you! Now let's move on to the review. : )

To be honest I didn't know what to expect from this book, because ghosts books are like fairy book - a hit or miss for me. But I was very intrigued by the synopsis and by the beautiful cover. So, I read it and somehow I almost scared myself.

This book it's not horror, it's more like paranormal, but it has some moments when I was creeped out and I was very aware of what was going around me and especialy what I could or would hear. But this happens *the creeped out moment* because the book is well written and from the first page it gripps you and you want to know what's going on.

I'm glad that I didn't had expectations, because I really liked it. Sometimes when I have expectation also I make theories in my head and they may or may not spoil me. Because sometimes books can be guessed even if they are not predictable; and that happens when you read a lot, because you start to see the book, you know? You can kinda guess what is going to happen comparing the book with other similar things that you've read.

So, I didn't do that and to be honest, this didn't remind me of other book that I've read. And I couldn't predict any of the plot twists that hit me in the face.

I won't talk about the plot, because spoilers, but as I said I really liked it and I really really need to read the second book when it comes out! Because I'm dying! How can you end a book with that cliffhanger?

Talking about characters, I can't say that they seemed original to me in some way but they are well build, are complexe and I liked reading their story. Somehow I liked even the creepy and bad guy, so.

I think this is a good book if you like ghosts and you're looking for something fast paced, easy to read, full of action and suspnese, a lot of mystery and a bit of romance aside. But be aware that it can be creepy and try to not read it at night as I did, because maybe you'll have nightmares. And I don't want to be blamed for that! So, go and read it! And please, PLEASE, give me the second book!

REVIEW:

THIS BOOK FUCKED UP MY MIND! And Hell, I wasn't expecting it, not in a million years and a thounsands of lives!

After I read the synopsis I was expecting something life Before I Go to Sleep, somehow it gave me that vibe. But, let me tell you, that is hundreds times crazier than that and you will die and revive with each chapter. Especially from 40-50% when everything starts going Hell crazy and you don't know who is who, what is going on, which are lies, what is true and even who is the main character.

I won't tell you what is going on! I don't want to ruin this book for you, because it's awesome and in a long time I haven't read something like. It fucked so much with my mind and I was so confused and frustrated, but at the same time I was enjoying it and I devoured every single page and word.

This books is a rollercoaster that I can't describe in words and I don't want to try, because I will ruin it. I don't have enough words and they are not enough big to engulf this book and show its essence. But I have to tell you that you have to be patient while reading this, because there are so many layers and so many things to understand and even the main character doesn't understand what's going on. Or maybe she does! *giggles* This novel is creepy, is hot, it's full of action and suspense, it's horror, it's thriller, it's New Adult, it's Adult, it's psychological.

It's a book so fucked up and so well written that I don't know how isn't hyped up! Why? Why this book is so freaking amazing and so few people have read it? I can't comprehend! It's a book that I loved and hated at the same time, because as I said it playes with your mind, but you like it and you want more. You want to be confused, because you find more and you'll be confused and you'll find more. Over and over again. This book is so short, but after I finished it I felt like I ran in a marathon, I haven't slept in a week and I was underwater for too much. It drained me.

And I would read this again and again. Please, read this book if you want something complex, action packed, suspenful, thrilling, gripping from the first chapter, pshychological and which messes with the main character and the reader. And I swear, I SWEAR, you won't guess that end! EVER!

REVIEW - Fairy Keeper by Amy Bearce

Synopsis:

Forget cute fairies in pretty dresses. In the world of Aluvia, most fairies are more like irritable, moody insects. Almost everyone in the world of Aluvia views the fairy keeper mark as a gift, but not fourteen-year-old Sierra. She hates being a fairy keeper, but the birthmark is right there on the back of her neck. It shows everyone she was born with the natural ability to communicate, attract, and even control the tiny fairies whose nectar is amazingly powerful. Fairy nectar can heal people, but it is also a key ingredient in synthesizing Flight, an illegal elixir that produces dreaminess, apathy and hallucinations. She’s forced to care for a whole hive of the bee-like beasties by her Flight-dealing, dark alchemist father.

Then one day, Sierra discovers the fairies of her hatch are mysteriously dead. The fairy queen is missing. Her father’s Flight operation is halted, and he plans to make up for the lost income by trading her little sister to be an elixir runner for another dark alchemist, a dangerous thug. Desperate to protect her sister, Sierra convinces her father she can retrieve the lost queen and get his operation up and running.

The problem? Sierra’s queen wasn’t the only queen to disappear. They’re all gone, every single one, and getting them back will be deadly dangerous.

Sierra journeys with her best friend and her worst enemy - assigned by her father to dog her every step - to find the missing queens. Along the way, they learn that more than just her sister’s life is at stake if they fail. There are secrets in the Skyclad Mountains where the last wild fairies were seen. The magic Sierra finds there has the power to transform their world, but only if she can first embrace her calling as a fairy keeper.

REVIEW:

I'm not a fairy fan, to be honest, but this sounded very interesting and original at the same time; plus, can we take a look at the oh, so simple but amazing and beautiful cover? Yes, thank you. Now, move on with the review.

Because I'm not a fairy fan, I wasn't expecting to enjoy this too much but I did. The writing style is simplistic but engaging, description and narration both flow so well, and the characters are developed very well for such a short book. And even if it was a short book anything wasn't rushed. Maybe at the end I would have wanted at least a chapter more so I could see a bit how things started to change, but it's ok.

At the beginning Sierra seemed to me very irritating because she was every second angry and like she wanted to punch someone; and I really understood why, but it's not so nice to have a character so nervous, because it give you the same mood. But when the story started to move and action and suspense came in, everything became better and even if she was tense, she wasn't so cranky.

The other characters were nice and interesting too, but I won't talk about them because spoilers.

I think this could be a very awesome, fast, summery read, because it's very short, very action packed and you'll like even if you're a fairy lover or you don't like them so much. Because the story it's about fairies, but not just them are important. They are a part of something bigger.

REVIEW - Trust The Focus (In Focus #1) by Megan Erickson

Synopsis:

With his college graduation gown expertly pitched into the trash, Justin Akron is ready for the road trip he planned with his best friend Landry— and ready for one last summer of escape from his mother’s controlling grip. Climbing into the Winnebago his father left him, they set out across America in search of the sites his father had captured through the lens of his Nikon.

As an aspiring photographer, Justin can think of no better way to honor his father’s memory than to scatter his ashes at the sites he held sacred. And there’s no one Justin would rather share the experience with more than Landry.

But Justin knows he can’t escape forever. Eventually he’ll have to return home and join his mother’s Senate campaign. Nor can he escape the truth of who he is, and the fact that he’s in love with his out-and-proud travel companion.

Admitting what he wants could hurt his mother’s conservative political career. But with every click of his shutter and every sprinkle of ash, Justin can’t resist Landry’s pull. And when the truth comes into focus, neither is prepared for the secrets the other is hiding.

REVIEW:

How am I going to write this review, because I don't even know how to start. So, let's start from the beginning. I saw the cover and I knew I had to read it and then I read the synopsis and I was like "...omg! omg! it's a roadtrip book and there are two guys!" You can't imagine how happy I was about this and at that I point I hadn't read it.

I don't want this review to be long, because I will repeat myself and honestly I don't think I can say more than I loved this thing to death! But let's not be morbid. This was the best book I've read in a long time and honestly roadtrip books are a hit or miss for me, because they focus on the roadtrip and forget the character or they have some awesome characters and the roadtrip is boring. But this one had both and I was hooked from the first page!

I felt like I was there with Justin and Landry, going on a roadtrip and visiting beautiful places and taking photos, relaxing, laughing and eating a ton of food. The writing style is so beautiful and I'm so sad now that I read this novel so fast : (, because I can't have more time together with these two awesome people. But at least I can be happy that they are happy now and life is beautiful and I'm glad that I went with them on this roadtrip.

I liked both Justin and Landry and I can't talk about them separately, somehow I can see them in one picture, staying so close and smiling or making faces. They complete each other and I think that during this roadtrip they were not just  honest with each other but with themselves, and along with discovering each other they could look at them more and see their true self.

Trust the Focus is such a beautiful, honest, funny, lovely, amazing and powerful book! It's about friendship and love, it's about accepting who you are and what you really want and not what others want for you. It's about discovering that you are stronger that you knew and finding that inner strenght that was staying asleep inside you. Or maybe it was waiting a proper moment to awake.

This book it's about real people, people that make mistakes and want to repair them, people that want to find love and a real and right road for them in life, people that want to cry when they are happy and laugh when they are sad. It's such a powerful and emotional read, full of happy and sad moments and a ton in between. Moments that you can't describe in words but you can feel. It's a great book and I'd be so happy if more people will read it and love it! Because it deserves a lot of love and I think that more should read this, because you can't, YOU CAN'T miss this roadtrip!

I highly recommend this one and, as I said, I'm sad that it ended so fast, but I'm so happy that it happened. And if you don't read it, then I'm sorry for you, because you have no idea what you can lose. But don't worry, more for myself!

REVIEW:

I went into this book expecting something contemporary, a bit sad and with a hint of mystery, but to be honest, I wasn't expecting something amazing. But I was wrong!

This book was SO good and well written that I couldn't put it down and I loved so much everything: the plot, the mystery part, the romantic part, the characters, the dialogue. I felt so many emotions while reading this, that now after I finished it I don't know how I should feel.

It's a very fast paced read, full of action and suspense, but also the characters are well developed, and not just the main ones, and the story is so complexe. Somehow I feel like I read it fast but at the same time I feel like I read it for days, because so many things happen. Each chapter is powerful and you can't guess what's going to happen, from where the danger is going to come, how the story is going to finish.

And I loved it because of that. It's so hard these days to find a well written book that has also great characters, awesome descriptions and plot, with action and mystery elements, but also a nice and strong, but not insta-love, relationship. It's hard. But this one did it and I have nothing negative to say about it.

I loved Diana and Jon so much!

Diana is stronger that it seems and I really admire her. To be so strong and to survive all these things, to move on and find that inside power, and be able to live. I liked her character and she seemed so real to me. I could feel everything and I really really liked how she changed and how she has grown through the book.

Also Jon was very nice but also mature. Sometimes childish and funny, otherwise mature and serious. A good mix, a strong man and I really enjoyed hearing his story. Because he hadn't had a pink and bright life too. And I admired him because he moved forward and tried to be better and tried to not remain in the past.

Plus their relationship is powerful, beautiful, emotional and growing. Because everything happens gradually, nothing is rushed and in the end... is perfect.

I highly highly recommend this book! It doesn't matter if you like romance, contemporary, new adult, adult, thriller or mystery, because it has all of them and I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this one and sorry for the late review!
